In Citizens United v the Federal Elections Commission, the Supreme Court ruled that any organization or corporation can spend unlimited amounts of money on political advertisements and other political expenditures. The court declared that corporations have the same right to free speech as American people -- despite 100 years of law that protected democracy from big-money special interests.
Capitalizing on these newfound rights of corporations, Murray Hill Inc, a public relations firm based in Silver Spring, is taking the next step and running for Congress against Rep. Van Hollen.
As stated in it's campaign video, "now that democracy is truly for sale, Murray Hill Incorporated is paying top dollar. Vote Murray Hill Incorporated for the best democracy money can buy."
Come hear Rep. Van Hollen stand up the rights of individuals -- "We must ensure that corporations can't drown out the voices of voters."
This event is co-sponsored by the Montgomery County Young Democrats and Organizing for Montgomery, which is part of Organizing for America, a project of the Democratic National Committee.
